In the modern world, it is common to see mothers raising their children alone. This is no surprise to society, but it can be even more unusual when a father raises his child alone. But there are many, and quite a few, as evidenced by the fact that even some Hollywood stars have fathers who have raised their children alone – and done a great job at it.
Liam Neeson
10 years ago, Liam Neeson’s wife Natasha Richardson suffered a serious head injury in a skiing accident. She died a few days later, leaving Liam Neeson alone with his two sons, Daniel, 12, and Michael, 13. The family tragedy was not easy to come to terms with, but he did – since then Liam has dedicated his life to his sons and has never remarried.
Pierce Brosnan
During his marriage to Australian actress Cassandra Harris, Pierce Brosnan adopted two of her children from a previous marriage – Charlotte, then 9, and Christopher, 8. After 3 years, the couple had a son, Sean. But then a terrible tragedy occurred when Cassandra died of cancer. For many years afterwards, Brosnan raised his own and other children alone, until he remarried in 2001. Since then she has had two more sons.
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage’s son Weston Coppola Cage was born in 1990. The actor was not married to the child’s mother at the time, and as their relationship soon broke down, he had to take legal action to obtain the right to continue to raise his child. Cage had to give his former girlfriend a Hollywood house as part of the deal, but it was worth it – the dispute was settled and Weston went to his father. Now 28, Weston is an aspiring musician and actor who is already a father himself.
George Lucas
Few people know it, but George Lucas, the creator of the legendary Star Wars saga, has spent many years raising his three children alone. After he and his wife divorced in 1983, the children decided to stay with their father. George only remarried in 2013, and in the time since then he has looked after his children alone.
Al Pacino
Although Al Pacino is the father of 3 children, he has never officially married. His eldest daughter Julie was born in 1989, and in 2001 actress Beverly D’Angelo gave birth to twins Olivia and Anton for Al Pacino. A few years later the couple split up and the parties agreed that the children would spend equal time with both parents. Al Pacino has always tried to live up to this commitment, and even with his constant work schedule, he has always made time for his children.
Colin Farrell
Colin Farrell also raises his sons, 16-year-old James and 10-year-old Henry, alone. His first son was born to model Kim Bordenave, but their relationship didn’t work out and the boy stayed with his father. Henry’s mother was a Polish actress, but Farell’s relationship with her didn’t last long and he has been raising his sons alone ever since.
Lenny Kravitz
After the divorce, Lenny Kravitz’s daughter Zoe was agreed to spend equal time with her mother and father, but at the age of 11, she decided to move in with her father permanently and break off her relationship with her mother. Zoé is now a sought-after actress and model, and Lenny Kravitz never remarried.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo is the father of four children. His first son was born back in 2010, also named Christiano. In 2017 he had twins, Eva and Mateo. Ronaldo is now living with his girlfriend, model Georgina Rodríguez, with whom he is already planning their wedding, while the model has given birth to Ronaldo’s fourth child, Alana.
Norman Reedus

Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has also been raising his son Mingus alone for many years. He spent about five years with model Helena Christensen, but they later parted ways. Since then, Reedus has raised his son alone.
